Hey everyone, I hope you’re all well and good and have had a great week! It’s the weekend tomorrow so I hope you all take some time to recharge yourself. Today I’m going to tell you about some news I received this week from a charity I got involved in back in 2018.

So I got introduced back in 2018 to a local charity called the Restoration Trust, this was for a project called the Burgh Castle Almanac. At first I didn’t think I’d go back to the project as it wasn’t really me, but the thing I did like was that no one was judged and everyone would just chat away to one another and the time would just fly by. When I got home I spoke to my partner and said I didn’t think I’d go back however she convinced me to give it another shot. 

Well I decided to give it another shot and we had people come in and do talks and show us things. Then once a week we went to Time Tide Museum to do arts and crafts. Now I hate arts and crafts however after a few months everyone would be laughing at me and joking around because I would curse Ian for the stuff he would try and get us to do.

Now Laura who runs the Restoration Trust is great, she’s such a down to earth person. When myself and my partner were having issues with housing she would alway check in to see if there was anything they could help with. I once mentioned to Laura that I wanted to start a Podcast and be more active doing my blogs but the only problem was I didn’t have the right equipment. Then within a couple of weeks Laura had loaned me a laptop and a microphone and I was off! The podcast journey began..

Laura also asked me to sit on the expert board advisory group for the Restoration Trust and I jumped at the chance! This charity had given so much to me I felt it was my time to give back. I also got asked to go to Parliament for a meeting which was such a great day, it really was.

Once the Burgh Castle project finished I just sat scrolling through social media when I saw a post from the Restoration Trust saying they were looking for a new Trustee. When I saw this I thought this was perfect, this could be a chance for me to really give back! So I decided to apply and in January I had a meeting with Alison who is the chair women for the Restoration Trust. Now the last thing she said to me is that she would put it forward to the rest of the board and then she would get back to me. 

Within a week I received an email saying that I had been accepted as the new Trustee of the board and I was over the moon! The Restoration Trust has given me so much I’m happy I now get to help them grow just like they did to me. My first official meeting is this month, I’m nervous but I’m so excited and ready for it!
