Taking A Chill Pill

Hey everyone: how are you all doing? I hope you’re all well and good. I also hope that wherever you’re reading this blog, Covid is easing up and you’re getting to see your family and friends. Today, I’m going to write about taking time out and setting small goals for yourself, so that you don’t burn out and fail when it comes to the more ambitious things you want to do.

In the last few blogs I’ve done, I’ve suggested that you should always take some time for yourself, whether it’s five minutes, an hour or even longer. I do this in several ways.

One of my favourite past times is doing the washing up, when I either listen to music on my ipad, or watch my favourite You Tubers. I take my time doing the washing up because it distracts me from everything. When I’m in that frame of mind, I like to go into my own my little bubble and just chill out. I also enjoy watching people playing sports, which has the same effect. I also like searching the internet for positive quotes about mental health, because if I can relate to it and then post it on my sites, and if someone else feels positive because of reading them, then I’ve been a success. I also like watching things on the television which are about real life. I can lose a lot of time when I get engrossed in things like that.

These are just some of the things I do to recharge myself. I can’t stress how important it is to make time for yourself. I’d love to hear what you do.

I used to set goals that where ridiculously hard to achieve, or imagine unrealistic targets, and I’d beat myself up over them; then I would go into a downward negative spiral. I attended recovery college and went on a course about goal setting, and it wasn’t until I had completed the first few sessions, that I realised that I had been getting my priorities all wrong.

So, the way to set goals and targets are to have small ones, so that you achieves these first, which will help build your confidence. Since I’ve been doing this, I’ve passed all mine with flying colours and have set more and more new targets. One of them is to make four blog posts a month, and I think is achievable.

Remember to take some ‘you’ time and let me know how it goes. I’d love to hear about it.

Thank you for reading this blog. I wish you all good mental and physical health.
